Weekend Silent Retreat by Institute for Christian Action and Contemplation held at Little Flower Monastery, Deroche, BC, Canada

Last weekend i.e 4th of October to 6th of October 2024, the Institute for Christian Action and Contemplation hosted a silent retreat at Little Flower Monastery, Carmel Hill, Deroche, BC.  Emphasizes spiritual growth and identity in God. We welcomed 16 attendees from various Chinese churches for a peaceful retreat themed “Where are you? Who am I?

This retreat provided participants with a unique opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of their daily lives, and allowing them space for self-reflection and a journey to rediscover their true identity in God.

Many attendees reported experiencing personal spiritual growth and forming a deeper connection with a Loving God. One participant shared, “Every time I tell my life story, I gain a further and new understanding of myself.”

The attendees expressed heartfelt gratitude to the retreat’s speakers– Dr. Thomas, Pastor Stanley, and Pastor Howard– for their carefully prepared messages that opened new perspectives on their identities in God. Through insightful teachings, the speakers guided participants to rediscover the true selves that God intended for them. They emphasized God’s loving and merciful nature, revealing that His love is everlasting and that He goes to great lengths to save sinners.

The weekend’s experiences inspired attendees to embrace lives that reflect God’s glory in the world, encouraging them to carry forward the messages of love and mercy they received.  As they departed, many felt renewed and empowered to share the profound insights they gained during their time at Little Flower Monastery.

Short Review about the Retreat Centre and Friars by a Retreatant:

"Father Stephen and Father Vincent, I have had the pleasure of utilizing the facilities at Little Flower Monastery for the past few years, and I can confidently say that it provides an exceptional environment for silent retreats. Nestled in a beautiful natural setting, the retreat site offers a serene backdrop that enhances the reflective experience for all attendees. The facilities are well-maintained and provide a welcoming space for the attendees to disconnect from the chaos of daily life and immerse themselves in a peaceful atmosphere. This environment truly supports the transformative journey that many attendees seek.

For the past weekend retreat, many express how their time spent at Little Flower has led to personal growth and a deep connection to God and their inner selves. Equally impressive is Fr Stephen’s friendly and welcoming demeanour that makes us feel valued and supported throughout our stay, your warmth contributes significantly to the overall experience. On behalf of my organization (Institute for Christian Action and Contemplation), I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for allowing us to host our weekend silent retreat at your beautiful monastery. We look forward to the possibility of returning in the future.
