From October 9-11, 2024, we gathered at the Little Flower Monastery for the 2024 Faith Companion Retreat, themed From the Wilderness to the Promised Land. This enriching retreat bore much spiritual, social, and physical fruit.
Spiritually, under the guidance of Sister Christina Cheung, we deepened our understanding of Genesis, Exodus, and Deuteronomy. We experienced the immense love of God in His protection and preparation for His people. God spreads His arms wide like an eagle, carrying us across the wilderness of evil and sin to belong completely to Him.
Socially, our group of 29 brothers and sisters cared for one another, prayed together, and were inspired by genuine sharing. We witnessed the breathtaking aurora and were amazed by God’s wondrous works. The beautiful starry sky, adorned by the northern lights, combined with the joy of our group, created a true heaven on earth.
Physically, we walked uphill for the Stations of the Cross, contemplating and entering into the mystery of Jesus’ gift of Himself to us. This hike not only strengthened our faith but also provided good exercise; some of us even ascended the hill four times in three days! Surrounded by the lush beauty of nature, we enjoyed healthy and delicious meals that nourished our bodies.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sister Christina Cheung, our spiritual director, and to Fr. Stephen Lobo OCD, the Asst. Director and Fr. Vincent D’Souza OCD the superior and for their generous hospitality at the retreat center. Their support exemplified the love of God for His people and played a crucial role in our spiritual journey.
